Use of our Kendo Kata Yo brings realism to the practice of nihon kendo kata. These swords have a similar build and finish to quality iaito, but with thicker and harder blades of polished chrome plated reinforced zinc/berylium alloy, designed to suit the contact made in kendo kata practice.

KK-1, Daito (long sword) up to 2.4 syaku (similar length to kendo bokutoh) weight is approximately 1080 grams.
KK-2, Shoto (short sword) up to 1.4 syaku and 680 grams, both weights are without the Saya.

Kata yo and
Iaito are supplied with a tsuka of a length to suit the sword. If you prefer, you can select a tsuka length below.
All the iaito (iaido practice swords) and mogito (practice swords) that are
offered on this site are suitable for the practice of iaido. They are made from
cast aluminium-zinc alloys, have a blunt edge, cannot be sharpened and are not
suitable for any type of contact or cutting practice.
Iaito and mogito should always be handled carefully and used in a supervised
training environment, with due care for the safety of all. Iaito and mogito
should always be checked for safety prior to use, in particular the mekugi, or the
handle retention pin.
